“As attorneys, we build relationships with clients — relationships built on trust,” says Debra L. Paiz. “Clients trust us to help them with problems they can’t solve on their own. My profound desire to help people is why I became a lawyer. To serve as a lawyer is to serve people.”
That philosophy brought Debra to the San Antonio office of Jim Adler & Associates in 2010. There, she works as an associate attorney in the pre-litigation department to negotiate settlements for clients.
In doing so, she applies the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
“If I were a client, I’d want an attorney who respected me and communicated with me,” Debra says. “I have respect for my clients. I’m honest with them and keep them well informed regarding the trajectory of their case. And I’m dedicated to fight aggressively for their compensation.”
Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Debra moved to San Antonio in 1998 and earned her law degree at St. Mary’s University School of Law after graduating from St. Mary’s University.
While in law school she worked as an intern for City Councilman Enrique M. Barrera, participating in community projects such as Graffiti Wipeout. She also has been a volunteer in the Community Justice Program.
Debra is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. She is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
In her free time, Debra likes to work out in classes such as Zumba and BodyPump. She also enjoys hunting, horseback riding and watching movies, of which her favorite legal films are To Kill A Mockingbird, A Time to Kill and The Judge.
